FIRST TEAM MANAGER APPOINTED

Leafield Athletic Ladies FC are pleased to announce the appointment of Vince Gordon as their new First Team manager.

Vince joins the Shirley based club from West Bromwich Albion Women where he has been involved as both First Team Manager and more recently Reserve team manager for the last two seasons, in between this he managed Birmingham City Ladies Reserves for a season.

The experienced UEFA B coach replaces Denis Hearnden who has stepped down as manager after 12 years in the hot seat.  Hearnden has taken the club to their current position in the Midland Combination league missing out on promotion to the National League by just two points in 2005/2006.  He started the club at its inception in 1997 as under 14s manager leading the club to junior success and then back to back promotions from the West Midlands League. 

‘Denis has done so much work for Leafield both on and off the pitch, he is Leafield through and through, he will still be involved to lend a hand and support us as we look to push forward and improve and we thank him for his hard work and commitment over such a long period of time,’ said club chairperson Kevin Thornhill.

‘Vince impressed us greatly in his interview; he shared our vision for the future and has a hunger to succeed at first team level following his excellent success at WBA with the reserves,’ he continued. 

Leafield’s current First Team coach Lorraine Robinson will remain in post as part of Vince’s management team, with further appointments to his back room staff to be confirmed.
